Lynch's Landing Annual Awards

Lynch’s Landing had its annual downtown meeting on Thursday, December 1, 2011 where it announced the winners of the downtown advocate awards. Each year Lynch's Landing recognizes individuals, organizations, and corporations who advance the revitalization efforts of Downtown Lynchburg. The award winners excel in their commitment to creating a thriving and vibrant downtown.

“We have seen a significant growth within the downtown area over the past year.” said Anna Bentson, Executive Director of Lynch’s Landing, “We are thrilled to see such improvements and think it is important to recognize those that are making these incredible contributions.”

The Innovative Initiatives Award recognizes an initiative or partnership by a group of people or organizations to work together to accomplish a cooperative goal that benefits downtown Lynchburg. This award was presented to the James River Arts Council for their “Arts & Culture Block” at the Get!Downtown event.

The Get!Downtown Award recognizes a marketing initiative or promotional event to advance the image of downtown and attract people to the district. This award was presented to Tony Camm and July-Gemini Entertainment for their creativity in producing a promotional Get!Downtown song and video.

The Good Works Award recognizes a business or program that strengthens our community’s existing economic assets while diversifying its economic base. For its unique use of an unusual downtown space and its role in drawing collegiate and regional patrons to downtown Lynchburg, this award was presented to Rise Up Climbing.

This award was presented to Randolph College for its outstanding commitment to planning, financially supporting, and volunteering at the Get!Downtown event.

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual for their commitment to Lynch’s Landing and our initiatives. This award was presented to Lynda Gentry for her outstanding commitment to volunteering with not only Lynch’s Landing but her extreme support of the downtown community.

The Margaret Burnette Award recognizes an individual for their long-term commitment to Lynchburg’s downtown revitalization effort and by contributing to this initiative in a leadership role with significant results.
